Chad Norman is the Internet Marketing Manager for Blackbaud, where he is responsible for corporate website content, social web strategy, email marketing, community management, and search engine optimization. Chad is editor-in-chief of Blackbaud Blogs, where he also writes his own blog "Webby Things". As host and producer of The Baudcast, he brings together industry experts from around the world to discuss nonprofit technology issues on this biweekly podcast. In 2007, Chad founded Go Green Charleston, a technology-focused nonprofit that helps Charleston-area residents connect, stay informed, and mobilize around local environmental issues. Komen for the Cure. With a B.S. in Mathematics from the University of Oregon and graduate coursework in statistics and analysis, Karen has a strong quantitative research background. In addition to co-authoring M+R and NTEN's eNonprofit Benchmarks Study (, Karen regularly researches and co-authors articles about best online communications strategies using data from several national nonprofits.

First Annual Women in Science Portland Fundraising Gala

The WIS Fundraising Gala is designed to be a “choose your own adventure” experience. We will have a number of activity stations and fundraising options to choose from, the majority of which will feature female owned and operated businesses.

We are most excited about our silent auction for the St. Mary’s Art Club series depicting famous Women in Science! Students from the St. Mary’s Art Club will be attending and showcasing their work at the gala and donating the proceeds of their auction to WIS. We will also have a range of items available via the raffle, grab bag, and silent auction.

Our goal is to raise enough money to cover the costs of our standard yearly programming, including the annual networking Mixer at OMSI, in addition to new Professional Development and Education & Outreach programming that we would like to roll out in 2019.
